May 17 - 21: National Bike to Work Week
Bike-to-Work Day is an annual event held on the third Friday of May across the United States and Canada that promotes the bicycle as an option for commuting to work. In 2010 Bike-to-Work day will be on Friday May 21. Bike-to-Work Day was originated by the League of American Bicyclists in 1956 and is a part of Bike-to-Work Week, which is in turn part of National Bike Month.

The Town of Silver City will hold a Public Hearing during the Regular Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on May 25, 2010 at the Grant County Administration Center, 1400 Highway 180 East, Silver City, New Mexico. The public hearing will consider SD 09-1 a preliminary subdivision plat request for the dividing of a 27.5 acre tract of land into 56 lots either 2,500 or 5,000 square feet in size. The tract of land consists of recently vacated portions of Reynolds Street, Newsham Street, Durango Street, Market Street, Kelly Street, 6th Street, 7th Street, 8th Street, College Street, 10th Street, and all of Blocks 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 150, 151, 152, 153, 154, 155, 188, 189, 190, 191, and 192, including part of Blocks 218 and 219, Section 2 of the Fraser Survey. The applicant is the Town of Silver City.

Memory Lane Cemetery opening of new section
The Cemetery Board of the Town of Silver City has canceled their regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. on May 26, 2010 at the Public Works Building in order to attend the Grand Opening of the New Section of the Memory Lane Cemetery on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. No action will be taken by the Cemetery Board.

Fort Bayard Wilderness Run / Walk
The Fort Bayard Wilderness Run is a challenging and scenic course in the foothills of the Gila Wilderness, taking place off-pavement, on trails and dirt roads in the Gila National Forest. The 8-mile Wilderness Run, as well as the 2-mile run and 5-K walk, start and finish at the historic parade grounds of Ft. Bayard. For more information please call 388-2325.
