The Town of Silver City is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief.
include: management and operations of the Fire Department and providing the Town with
adequate fire protection and emergency medical services.
Requirements include: NM Class E
Driverís License; NM EMT-Intermediate; Certified in Fire Officer II and obtain Fire Officer III & IV
upon class availability; prefer certification in Firemanship 1, 2 and Fire Leadership Certification;
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related degree of equivalent
relation to Fire Dept. Administration; or equivalent experience in upper level management, Fire Science
and EMS management; 10 years of increasingly responsible fire service experience; 2 years in an
administrative capacity; exceptional managerial and leadership skills. Must be customer-service oriented,
visionary and a proven strategic thinker; ability to stay focused and proactive in a fast-paced environment;
levelheaded with crisis management skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; computer
literate; ability to manage and coordinate staff through appropriate delegation and work supervision;
ability to develop goals and priorities; assign tasks and projects and meet regularly with staff; provide for
proper training and development of staff; ability to hear appeals and grievances, recommend corrective
actions, provide counseling, coaching and conduct performance appraisals; able to prioritize competing
demands and determine appropriate actions required; ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
