Museum Education and Programs Coordinator
The Town of Silver City is accepting application for the position of Museum Education and Programs Coordinator.

Responsibilities include: overseeing, managing, and promoting museum education programming; cultivating relationships with community groups, educators and general public; and overseeing interns and volunteers.
Requirements include: NM Class D Driverís License with acceptable driving record, or ability to obtain within 30 days; Bachelorís Degree in Museum Studies, History, Education, Public History, American Studies, or closely related fields; and/or 2 years of experience working in an education, programming or marketing department in a museum. Preferred Masterís Degree in Museum Studies with emphasis on Museum Education; 2 years of experience working in an education, programming or marketing department in a museum; and/or a Bachelorís Degree in Museum Studies, History, Education, Public History, American Studies, or closely related fields. A combination of classroom teaching or public outreach experience may be considered a substitute for a museum education background. Prefer, experience working with Hispanic communities. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Detail oriented; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Knowledge of best practices and latest developments in museum education, visitor experience, museum interpretation, and public history helpful. Knowledge of and willingness to keep up with the latest requirements in K-12 curriculum, such as Common Core. Marketing and scheduling skills. Ability to work with varied demographics. Ability to speak before groups. Prefer, knowledge of American history, especially southern New Mexico history, and ability to research and develop exhibition-related programs. Must be creative and engaging self-starter who employs innovative strategies to engage visitors. Spanish language abilities a plus. Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
